FootballRonaldo vs Messi: Tennis Ace Makes His Pick on the GOAT Debate
- Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have headlined football’s greatest stage for over a decade
- The stellar performances of the duo have continued to divide football fans globally
- A Tennis star has recently weighed in on the controversial debate between the pair
The debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi seems far from over despite the Portuguese recently stating the rivalry between the pair was over.
The pair treated fans to a decade-long unprecedented footballing rivalry, raking up records, trophies and individual awards during the process.
Despite both stars now playing their football away from the spotlight in Europe, fans have continued with the debate on who the best between the duo is.
The latest to weigh in on this debate is 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev who made his pick in an Instagram live video as reported by the media outlet A Bola Portugal.
Medvedev picks between Messi and Ronaldo
The 27-year-old Russian Tennis star weighing in on the debate said:
“I respect both of them. But Leo does things with the ball that Cristiano [Ronaldo] can’t do.
“In this, Messi is like Federer. You don’t understand how they do it.”
Medvedev, who lost the just concluded US Open finals to Number 1 ranked Novak Djokovic, would have fancied a closely fought battle between the pair replicated in Tennis.
Despite Djokovic’s impressive statistical achievements, many, including the 27-year-old Medvedev, still consider Swiss star Roger Federer as the greatest athlete to have graced the tennis court. This sentiment largely stems from Federer’s finesse and overall tennis prowess.
As reported by Goal, Messi and Ronaldo continue to show their qualities as the pair recently led their clubs to their first trophies of the season, clinching individual awards in both tournaments.
