  • Jadon Sancho may have played his last game for Manchester United after his public spat with Erik ten Hag
  • Ten Hag criticised the player publicly, and he responded with a statement on social media
  • England manager Gareth Southgate insists that the national team door is still open for the winger

Jadon Sancho could be at the end of his Manchester United career, but there is still hope for him with the England national team after Gareth Southgate's recent comments.

Sancho is embroiled in a feud with United manager Erik ten Hag after the Dutch tactician claimed the player was dropped for the 3-1 loss against Arsenal due to a poor training attitude.

The winger did not take his coach's comments in good light and fired back with a statement on X (formerly Twitter), an incident that infuriated the manager.

According to Daily Star, the crisis talks between the two did not go well, and the player is expected to leave the club in January, with former Premier League star Anwar El-Ghazi lined up as a potential replacement.

Southgate offers Sancho lifeline

However, England manager Gareth Southgate is not ruling out a future in the national team for the 23-year-old, despite the uncertainty over his career at Old Trafford.

The 53-year-old made this known while speaking at a press conference ahead of the friendly against Scotland later today, as quoted by Mirror UK.

“I think that’s the challenge for him now. It’s been the best part of a couple of years since we worked with him, it’s difficult to say exactly the position that he finds himself and where he is with it all,” he said.
“But for every player that’s not with us, there is always an opportunity if they can seize the form and have the (right) level of performances.”

Sancho has 23 caps for the Three Lions, and his last appearance came two years ago in a friendly against Andorra in 2021. He was not called up for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Sancho spotted after statement

Sports Brief reported that Sancho made his first public appearance since releasing the bombshell statement after Erik ten Hag called him out.

He was in New York City with United teammate Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as both enjoyed their time off to attend NBA star John Wall's birthday party.
