Declan Rice has finally opened up on his decision to snub Manchester City and Chelsea to seal a move to Arsenal.
The England international joined the Gunners this summer, ending speculation that surrounded his future with West Ham United.
Rice was among the summer signings made by the north Londoners to strengthen their squad in a bid to challenge for titles this season.
According to The Guardian, Arsenal forked out an eyewatering £100 million ($131m) plus £5m ($6.5m) in add-ons to land the services of the midfielder.
The fee paid by Arsenal saw them beat rivals Chelsea, Man United, and City, who submitted a £105m offer to sign the 24-year-old.
Why Rice chose Arsenal
The West Ham United academy graduate has now disclosed on why he chose to seal a move to Arsenal and not any other club.
According to the Englishman, the prospect of playing under Mikel Arteta excited him the most in making a decision on his next move.
"I have to say the manager, Mikel," Rice told Channel 4 via Metro UK when asked what motivated him to snub other Premier League clubs to join the Gunners.
"I think just from the moment that I met him I knew he was the one I wanted to take of the next part of my career.
"Just the way he spoke, his aurora, the way he sees the game, the way he wants to play football, and I think we’ve seen Arsenal the way they’ve played the last two years, the way they’ve played as a team I really see myself fitting in," he added.
