FootballBarcelona’s Ansu Fati Reveals Big Ambition With Premier League Club Brighton
- Ansu Fati recently completed a surprise transfer to Brighton and Hove Albion
- The Barcelona forward fell down the pecking order at Barca under Xavi Hernandez
- Fati has revealed his ambition with the Premier League side
Ansu Fati hopes to get a new lease on life at Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion following his impressive spell at La Liga giants Barcelona.
The 20-year-old La Masia graduate, who burst onto the scenes under manager Quique Setien in August 2019, was once seen as the future star of the Catalan club. Unfortunately, a prolonged setback due to a meniscus injury seemed to alter the course of his career.
The club’s appointment of former midfielder Xavi Hernandez as coach did little to improve Fati's situation, as he gradually slipped down the pecking order among the coach's preferred attackers.
The emergence of Lamine Yamal further pushed the 2020 Golden Boy Award runner-up down the ranks, making an exit from the La Liga champions seem like the best option for Fati's career.
According to reports from ESPN, Fati eventually completed a transfer to Brighton on deadline day, and the Spanish international has recently shared the aspirations he has with the Premier League side.
Fati reveals Brighton ambitions
The Seagulls have been living a dream since the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi in September 2022. The 44-year-old manager led the club to a historic sixth-place finish in the 2022/23 campaign, earning them a spot in the UEFA Europa League. As they prepare for their European debut at the Amex Stadium against AEK Athens, Fati shared his ambitious goals for the club.
As quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish international said:
"I want to have a really great season at Brighton — fight for the team, try to qualify for Europe again like they did last year.
"If we can qualify for the Champions League, that would be even better," he added.

FootballFati's UEFA Champions League dream with Brighton may appear a tall order, but nonetheless, it may be within reach as the club currently sits just one point outside the Premier League's top four.
Fati holds talks with Xavi
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ansu Fati has tried to do some damage control following his father’s recent criticism of Barcelona due to the forward’s lack of game time under Xavi.
Bori Fati had revealed that he was angry at Barcelona, especially at Xavi, for the continuous dropping of his son to the bench in a recent interview in which he blasted the Catalan giants.
Ansu has now distanced himself from his father’s outburst after holding a meeting with Xavi after the incident.
