  • Ousmane Dembele has listed the reasons why he decided to leave Barcelona
  • The French international spent six years at Barcelona but failed to live up to the lofty expectations
  • He is considered one of the worst transfers in football history

After six turbulent seasons at Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele decided to leave the club to join Paris Saint-Germain in early August in a deal worth €50.4 million.

The French international recently outlined why he left the La Liga champions despite signing a contract extension last summer. Dembele will now play alongside Kylian Mbappe and new signing Randal Kolo Muani in Paris.

Barcelona wanted the 26-year-old to remain at the club, but considering he had one year remaining on his contract, they did not want to lose him for nothing next summer.

Dembele won three La Liga titles and two Copa del Reys at Barca, but his spell at Camp Nou was frequently stymied by recurring injuries.

He made 185 appearances for Barcelona and produced 40 goals and 43 assists, per Transfermarkt.

Dembele on why he left Barca

The 2018 World Cup winner with France has played three matches for PSG since his transfer and started for France in the 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.

He recently spoke about his departure from Barcelona.

"Why did I sign for PSG? I spoke with the coach and president [Nasser] Al-Khelaifi," Dembélé said. "They told me about the project, and I was also excited to play in France again. Everything is good at PSG. We have a great coach, and the speech I liked the president," he said, via PSG Talk.

Dembele added that PSG's squad depth puts him under pressure to perform.

"The team is very good. All positions are doubled with quality players who play in the best teams in the world. There is a lot of competition, but that is good for the team and puts pressure on us all to give our best," he said, via 90min.

PSG are entering a new era after the departure of some of their long-serving players like Neymar and Marco Verratti, and the appointment of new coach Luis Enrique. Dembele is expected to play a key role in the team.

Dembele reveals his superhero power

Sports Brief also reported on Dembele revealing which superhero power he wished to have.

In an interview with Media Parisien, the forward explained that he wanted the ability to teleport.

Dembele's chosen ability is perhaps most famous through the X-Men character, Nightcrawler.
