FootballHansi Flick: 5 Worrying Stats that Show Germany FA Had No Choice but To Sack Ex Bayern Boss
- Hansi Flick has been dimissed as Germany manager with immediate effect
- His last game as Germany boss was a lowly 4-1 defeat to Japan
- Pressure has been mounting on the 58-year old since Germany’s disappointing World Cup campaign
Harrowing stats show Germany had little choice but to sack Hansi Flick, whose dismissal was confirmed on Sunday, September 10.
The news was broken by Sport1 journalist Kerry Hau, who tweeted out an official communication from the DFB.
Flick, a sextuple-winning manager with Bayern Munich, took charge of the national team following the departure of Joachim Lowe in 2021.
But his time with the team has been anything but easy, with his latest 4-1 defeat to familiar foes Japan proving to be the last straw.
The Germans looked toothless in attack for most of the game, while their defence looked too vulnerable to Japan’s attacks on Saturday.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Rudi Völler will take charge of the team on interim basis as the hunt for a new coach officially commences.
Ironically, less than 24 hours ago, Flick told media in the wake of the Japan defeat that he believed he was still the right man for the job but reiterated he knew "how things can change in professional football and I can't see what's to come".
Sports Brief looks at Flick’s recent stats which suggest the Germany FA had little choice but to dismiss him.
Firstly, the defeat to Japan was their fourth loss in the team’s last five outings.
In addition, Germany’s 4-1 defeat on Saturday was their heaviest loss since 2020, when they were thrashed 6-0 by Spain under Lowe.
Another worrying stat is that Flick has only managed to win 12 of his 25 games in charge of the Germany team since taking charge in 2021.

FootballThis stat includes a torrid run of just three wins in Germany’s last 12 fixtures.
Finally, Flick did himself little favours by failing to come out of his side’s group in the Qatar World Cup, where they were also beaten 2-1 by Japan.
