How big of an impact does Themba Zwane have in a team?
According to Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, the Mamelodi Sundowns captain is quite valuable to a team.
Broos also noted how Bafana missed that talismanic presence when they took on Namibia in a friendly at the Orlando Stadium.
Kick Off reported that the two sides shared the spoils in a goalless draw, as Bafana had some good chances but failed to capitalise on them.
Speaking after the draw, Broos said that the team missed a player like Zwane, iDiski Times reported.
The Sundowns star is out of action after he picked up a head injury during the game against Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8.
“Number 18 for Namibia was always free. So we didn’t have a real number nine, like Themba Zwane, for example.
“That’s the player we missed, that kind of player we missed today. But okay, Themba was not there, we made a choice,” he said.
Broos will be hoping that his charges can bounce back when they take on DR Congo in their next game.
The two sides will lock horns in a friendly on September 12 at the Orlando Stadium.
Broos explains comments about Kaizer Chiefs players
Sports Brief earlier reported that Broos had to clarify his comments after claiming no Kaizer Chiefs player deserved to be included in the national squad.
The Bafana Bafana coach recently selected his 23-man side to play Namibia and DR Congo in two friendlies and opted not to select any Amakhosi players for his team.
