FootballHarry Kane Outlines One Major Reason Why He Left Tottenham for Bayern Munich
- Harry Kane finally left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer after weeks of speculation
- The England striker joined Bayern Munich for one reason only
- He has made a good start in Germany and is looking to win the first major trophy of his career
There's only one reason why Harry Kane left his boyhood club, Tottenham Hotspur, to join Bayern Munich this summer.
The England captain was subject to a drawn-out transfer saga involving two clubs, but it was clear he was hell-bent on leaving Spurs after another frustrating season in North London.
The England striker has made a great start with the defending Bundesliga champions, scoring three goals and providing an assist, which has helped them win their first three games.
Kane signed a four-year deal with the German giants for £100 million and will be looking to help them win their 12th straight Bundesliga title, per Eurosport.
Kane received some criticism for leaving England because they felt the Premier League scoring record was within reach.
Kane's key reason for leaving Spurs
According to the Independent, Kane said he wanted to play in the Champions League and win medals that some of his England teammates, like Kyle Walker, have. Walker went on to win every trophy in his club career after leaving Tottenham.
“Of course, I want them to do well - Kyle and all those guys to win when they are in competitions I am not in - but a part of me wants to have those experiences...it does motivate me to go on and try to push myself towards some of those trophies the guys have got.”
Kane said the Premier League goal record, currently held by Alan Shearer, was not enough motivation for him to stay.
“I think there was a lot of talk about it and the fact I was getting closer to it but I have never been anybody who has chased individual honours ahead of team awards."

Kane set Ballon d'Or target
Sports Brief reported that Kane has set Ballon d'Or targets for himself after moving to Germany despite missing out on a trophy in his opening game for the club.
Kane believes he scores enough goals to be in contention and the only thing missing in silverware. He will be in the conversation for the award if he wins them.
