Bafana Bafana vice-captain Percy Tau has admonished Lyle Foster to take advantage of his presence in the English Premier League this season.

Foster has already notched in two goals in three matches for Burnley, and Tau stated that it means South Africa can still produce top-class players.

Tau had an unsuccessful spell at Brighton and Hove Albion, managing just three matches in a whole season, before being shipped out on loan for three consecutive campaigns.

Times Live reports that the Al Ahly of Egypt star is delighted with Foster’s progress and said that the former Orlando Pirates striker is on the right track.

“I am proud to see him do so well, I feel like he deserves to be in that space.
“He also has [Burnley manager] Vincent Kompany there with him and hopefully they will make a great relationship. I am proud of him and I just want to see him keep growing.”

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana are set for two international friendlies against Namibia on Saturday and the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday.

Hugo Broos would be delighted as his strikers, Tau, Foster, Zakhele Lepasa, Lebogang Mothiba and Mihlali Mayambela are currently in great form.

Tau hopes it translates into good performances for the team as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November and the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast in January.

Modise calls for Ashley du Preez’s inclusion

Sports Brief earlier reported that former Bafana Bafana star, Teko Modise stated that Ashley du Preez of Kaizer Chiefs could be the solution for South Africa’s national team.

Pule Mmodi is the only player from the club who has been invited for the forthcoming friendly matches against Namibia and DR Congo.

According to the former South African international, the national team needs a player who can take on opposing defenders, especially if both Percy Tau and Zakhele Lepasa are tired.
