Nicolas Pepe’s Arsenal nightmare is set to come to an end as the Ivory Coast international has reportedly agreed to join Turkish side Trabzonspor.
Pepe joined Arsenal in 2019 in what was a club record fee of £72million at the time, but he somehow failed to make an impact synonymous with his hefty price tag.
While he still had one year left on his Arsenal contract, the two parties agreed to mutually terminate his contract on Thursday, September 7,
The 28-year-old was scheduled to fly to Turkey on Thursday night ahead of a medical on Friday morning, according to Standard.co.uk.
Further reports from Football London claim the winger has agreed on a one-year deal with the Turkish club, who currently lie seventh in the Super Lig.
The deal could still happen as the transfer window in Turkey is still open, and will not shut down for another week.
As per Transfermkt, Pepe made a total of 112 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 27 goals and registering 21 assists as a Gunner.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had initially hinted of interest from Saudi clubs on Pepe, but the winger was not moved by the offers.
It was also revealed that Pepe was “completely out of the Arsenal project”, leaving him with no other option but to depart the North London club.
Having spent last season on loan at Nice, Pepe has not played for Arsenal since 2022.
