  • Two more women have now accused Antony of violent behaviour
  • The Manchester United star was recently accused by his ex-girlfriend of similar charges
  • Antony was dropped from Brazil's squad, with Manchester United declining to provide further details

Manchester United's star Antony is now treading a thin line after two more women accused him of violent behaviour.

The fresh allegations come at a time when the winger is fighting to clear his name after his ex-girlfriend accused him of similar accusations.

Antony was dropped from Brazil's latest squad for the South America qualifiers, with Manchester United deferring a concise statement for when they have gathered more facts, promising that 'we are taking this matter seriously.'

Gabriella Cavallin, the ex-girlfriend of Antony, had earlier this year claimed that the winger had assaulted her on multiple occasions while they were dating, leaving her to seek corrective surgery, as reported by Brazilian publication UOL.

In a damaging twist for Antony, two new ladies have also levelled similar accusations as captured in the Telegraph. Ingrid Lana, a banker, told Brazilian TV that the former Ajax winger tried to get aggressive with her in October last year.

Rayssa de Freitas, a law student, has also claimed that she was attacked by the football star as they left a club in Sao Paulo last May.

Antony’s statement after abuse allegations

Sports Brief reported on Antony’s statement regarding the battery allegations, with the winger denying he caused his ex-girlfriend physical harm but admitting they had a 'tumultuous' relationship.

Taking to social media on Monday, the Brazilian winger - whose career is said to be on the line as a result of the explosive claims - came to his own defence by denying he had assaulted Cavallin.

"Out of respect for my fans, friends and family, I feel obliged to speak out publicly about the false accusations I have been the victim of."
"From the beginning, I have treated this matter with seriousness and respect, providing the necessary clarifications before the police authority. The police investigation is under judicial secrecy, and therefore I cannot make its contents public."

The matter is under investigation by authorities in Sao Paulo and Greater Manchester.
