Barcelona's signing of Oriol Romeu has increasingly proven to be a transfer masterstroke, considering the midfielder's string of incredible showings since his debut against Getafe.

The Spaniard, who made the switch from cross-city rivals, Girona for an estimated fee of approximately ₤3.75 million, has seamlessly integrated into Xavi Hernandez's tactical schemes and is steadily emerging as a central figure of the La Liga champions' midfield.

The former La Masia graduate, who enjoyed stints in the Premier League with Chelsea and Southampton, recently had an interview with ESPORT3.

During the sit-down, he delved into a host of topics including Barcelona's prospects of clinching the UEFA Champions League title.

Romeu on Barcelona's UCL chances

Barcelona have had their recent struggles in the UEFA Champions League and the woes suffered by the Catalans in club football's most prized competition have deepened following consecutive failures to make it out of the group stage in the last two seasons.

Nonetheless, the 31-year-old midfielder is optimistic about the La Liga champions' current set-up and was quick to call the UCL triumph the team's final goal of this season:

"We will fight for the Champions League. The team still needs to take a step forward in Europe. The squad has a high level, but we'll see. But yes, the Champions League has to be our goal," Romeu proclaimed.

Xavi's men will fancy their chances of qualifying from Group H, which comprises FC Porto, Belgium's Royal Antwerp, and Ukraine's Shaktar Donetsk, who are sure to play away from home in Germany, as reported by The Athletic.

Romeu shows off hilarious dance moves

Sports Brief previously reported on Barcelona's Romeu taking the spotlight at a local Catalan festival, thanks to his glorious dance moves.

The Spaniard, who grew up in the Ulldecona region, recently attended an event in his native town for their traditional Terres del Ebre festival.
