Real Madrid star Eden Hazard suffered a thigh injury that will see him miss their La Liga opener against Celta Vigo on Saturday, August 17, at the Estadio Municipal de Balaídos.

Hazard, who joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in the summer, picked up a muscular injury on his right thigh during Los Blancos training session on Friday morning, August 16.

“After the tests carried out after training today on our player Eden Hazard by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the anterior part of his right thigh. His recovery will continue to be assessed,” Real Madrid stated on their website.

Reports coming out of the Spanish capital claim Hazard will likely be out of action between three to four weeks, suggesting he may not mark his La Liga debut until around mid-September.

The injury will see the Belgium international miss three La Liga fixtures against Real Valladolid, Villarreal and Levante.
