Sergio Ramos has dominated the headlines in Spain following his stunning return to boyhood club Sevilla, which he departed 18 years ago for Real Madrid.

The defender went on to become captain for Los Blancos and established himself as one of the finest defenders the world of football has ever seen.

Nevertheless, Ramos bid farewell to Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 and completed a move to the French club Paris Saint-Germain. After a somewhat uneventful two-year tenure in Paris, Ramos decided not to renew his contract and was released as a free agent.

The immediate future of the defender was shrouded in uncertainty, with Goal reporting the possibility of him heading to the Middle East, with an agreement reportedly in the works with the Saudi Pro League powerhouse, Al-Ittihad.

However, in an unexpected twist, the former Los Blancos captain chose to make a triumphant return to the Andalusian club. Amidst all the excitement and frenzy surrounding his comeback, Ramos has revealed his lifelong ambition with the club.

Ramos reveals lifelong Sevilla ambition

Speaking at his unveiling and as quoted by Madrid Universal, the latest Sevilla addition said:

"Before I die, I would like to win a title with the team of my soul. I think we can win a title, even the league or the Champions League. I know it's difficult, but the first thing to do is believe."

Sevilla find themselves in a Champions League group that includes RC Lens, Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven, and Premier League representatives Arsenal.

However, before the UEFA Champions League kicks off, Ramos and his Sevilla teammates will redirect their immediate attention to revitalizing the club's struggling season.

Currently positioned at the bottom of the La Liga table, Sevilla are set to face Osasuna following the international break.

Sergio Ramos snubs Al-Ittihad

In a previous report, Sports Brief stated that Ramos snubbed Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad after the defender opted for a return to boyhood club Sevilla.

The 37-year-old had been without a club since his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ended in July and appeared keen on a move to the Saudi giants until the surprise twist of a Sevilla transfer popped into the picture.

The ex-Real Madrid captain also turned down offers from Turkish powerhouses Galatasaray and Besiktas.
