FootballTeko Modise Names Kaizer Chiefs Star Who Could Be a Solution for Bafana Bafana
- Ashley du Preez has not been invited for Bafana Bafana's forthcoming friendly matches
- The Kaizer Chiefs forward could be the squad’s problem solver, according to Teko Modise
- Mmodi Pule is the only Chiefs' player in the squad, but Modise wishes to see du Preez as well
Former Bafana Bafana star, Teko Modise has stated that Ashley du Preez of Kaizer Chiefs could be the solution for South Africa’s national team.
Mmodi Pule is the only player from the club who has been invited for the forthcoming friendly matches against Namibia and DR Congo.
The Chiefs’ midfielder Pule earned the national team call-up as a replacement for Themba Zwane, who is injured.
Ex-international Modise stated that impressive striker du Preez should have been there as well.
According to the former South African international, the national team needs a player who can take on opposing defenders, especially if both Percy Tau and Zakhele Lepasa are tired.
Modise told reporters in Durban, as per iDiski:
“We have [Ashley] du Preez who has not been selected for the national team.
“If we do select based on form, he’s not scoring but he is on form, because I analyse games, and I do them week in and week out.
“If Percy and Lepasa are tired, do we have the players who can run behind the opposition defenders and cause problems? We don’t. I think du Preez could be the answer for that.”
Zwane will be out of action for up to two weeks after he suffered a cut to the side of his head during the MTN 8 game against Kaizer Chiefs.
