Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana has reunited with Cameroon coach, Rigobert Song after ending his nine-month national team exile.

The former Inter Milan shot-stopper decided to quit international football following a disagreement with the gaffer during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Onana was axed from camp after the first game against Switzerland, and only made a return after accepting an invite for the AFCON qualifier against Burundi.

In photos shared on social media, Onana looks to have ironed out his differences with the former Cameroon captain as he eyes a return to the Nations Cup with the Indomitable Lions.

Although the 27-year-old has not revealed the reason for his exile, the ex-Ajax goalie insists he has unwavering love for Cameroon.

"My desire to represent my country has never wavered since my youth, and this aspiration remains an inseparable part of my identity. Nothing and no one can shake this conviction. I respond to the call of my nation with unwavering certainty, aware that my return is not only intended to honor my dream, but also to respond to the expectation and support of Cameroonians, who deserve a national team determined to shine," he wrote in a statement confirming his return.

Cameroon need a good result against Burundi to qualify for the tournament, which is to be hosted by Ivory Coast next year.

The five-time African champions currently sit second in Group C and can only qualify by beating Burundi, having lost to Namibia in their previous game.

Andre Onana confirms Cameroon return

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Onana has agreed to return to the Cameroon national team after a temporary retirement following a disagreement with the national team coach, Rigobert Song.

Onana prematurely left the Indomitable Lions' camp during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar over disciplinary issues.

He has not made an appearance for the five-time African champions since the incident.
