Fulham's new signing, Alex Iwobi has claimed that he wants to create Premier League memories like his legendary uncle, Austin Jay Jay Okocha.
The former Arsenal forward joined the Cottagers from Everton for an undisclosed fee this summer on transfer deadline day.
Iwobi joined fellow Nigerian international Calvin Bassey at Craven Cottage, with the former joining the London side this summer from Eredivisie side Ajax.
Okocha, who is Iwobi's uncle, created a lot of Premier League memories during his time with Bolton Wanderers.
Iwobi, during an interview with Fulham TV, said that he witnessed some of Okocha's games at his new home ground Craven Cottage and hopes to create more.
“I’ve watched him several times at Craven Cottage, so I’ve had great memories there. Hopefully, I can create more memories with me playing at Craven Cottage,” the former Everton star said.
Meanwhile, Iwobi will not be in action for Nigeria's final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against São Tomé and Príncipe.
The Fulham new signing was not included in Jose Peseiro's 23-man squad for the game due to injury, but the likes of Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Joe Aribo are all available for selection.
Nigeria have booked a place at the tournament, which will be held in Ivory Coast, but need a win against The Falcons and True Parrots Team to seal the top spot in the group ahead of Guinea-Bissau.
Why Iwobi dumped Everton
Sportsbrief earlier reported that Iwobi revealed why he dumped Everton for Premier League rivals Fulham.
The Nigerian international's performances for the Toffees earned him a move to the London side this season.
The former Arsenal star now has another opportunity to work with Portuguese manager Marco Silva after their time together at Goodison Park in 2019.
