  • Mohamed Salah could displace Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest-paid player in Saudi Arabia
  • Al-Ittihad are reportedly preparing a world record bid of £215mil to sign the Liverpool star
  • The Saudi club's chiefs are said to have travelled to the UK for one last attempt to sign Salah

Mohamed Salah could be set for a blockbuster move to the Saudi Pro League days after the European transfer window closed, with Al-Ittihad reportedly ready to submit a world-record fee for the forward.

The 31-year-old has been a key target for the Saudi Pro League champions, who have already seen their first bid of £150 million emphatically rejected by Liverpool.

According to the Independent, Al-Ittihad are gearing up to make a second bid worth a mammoth £215mil for Salah in an attempt to persuade Liverpool to sell the marquee forward.

If accepted, the Egyptian ace will automatically become the most expensive footballer on earth, surpassing the £200mil Paris Saint-Germain paid to sign Neymar from Barcelona in 2017.

Liverpool are adamant they will not sell Salah but the proposed fee could force the Reds to consider letting the Egyptian forward, who joined from Roma in 2017, leave due to the amount of money being offered.

Salah’s proposed wages vs. Ronaldo's

Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad are willing to make Salah the best-paid player in the Saudi Pro League, with the Egyptian forward able to earn as much as £2.45mil per week, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Liverpool ace will also get a share of all jersey sales, a £55,000 win bonus, and ambassadorial roles with three major Saudi companies that would be active throughout his stay with Al-Ittihad.

If Salah signs the deal with the Saudi Pro League champions, he would overtake Cristiano Ronaldo as the best-paid player in the top flight, with his possible total package close to £200m yearly.

According to Metro UK, Ronaldo currently is the highest-paid footballer in Saudi Arabia as the former Manchester United forward earns a whopping £173mil yearly from Al-Nassr.

Al-Ittihad to make record Salah bid

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Al-Ittihad reportedly preparing to test Liverpool and their resolve to keep Salah this summer, with the Saudi Pro League champions readying a world-record bid.

The Reds previously rejected a first bid worth £150 million for the 31-year-old forward before the European transfer window shut on September 1 and have maintained their star is not for sale.

Al-Ittihad are reportedly gearing up to make a mammoth £215 million bid for Salah, which will automatically make him the most expensive footballer on the planet if the deal pulls through.
