FootballSaudi Club Al Ittihad Shifts Attention to Real Madrid Defender After Missing Out on Sergio Ramos
- Saudi club Al Ittihad are in the market for an elite central defender
- The Saudi club recently missed out on the signing of Sergio Ramos
- Reports have emerged of the club shifting its focus to a Real Madrid defender
Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad are keen on securing the signature of another elite defender from Europe’s biggest clubs.
The Saudi giants who recently missed out on signing free agent Sergio Ramos, appeared not deterred by this and have immediately shifted their attention to one of Carlo Ancelotti’s defenders, David Alaba.
According to reports from Fichajes, Alaba has emerged as a prime target of the Saudi league outfit and a €40 million offering could be tabled to Real Madrid for the signature of the 31-year-old alongside a €25 million net salary for the player himself.
However, there appears to be a new twist to the completion of this transfer following reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Alaba transfer takes a new twist
Following the season-ending injury suffered by key defender Eder Militao coupled with the Spanish giant’s refusal to sign a replacement for the injured Brazilian, Fabrizio Romano has reported that there is little chance for the club to allow the player to depart the Spanish capital.
Los Blancos are reportedly not in dire need of profits despite reports that the fee for the defender could rise to ₤55 million.
Given the closure of the European transfer window, it remains to be seen if the Saudi club can convince Madrid to sell one of their most-priced players.
Sergio Ramos snubs Al Ittihad
Sports Brief in a previous report stated Sergio Ramos snubbed Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad after the defender opted for a return to boyhood club Sevilla.
