- Al-Ittihad are gearing up to make a mammoth £215 million bid for Mohamed Salah
- Liverpool previously rejected a first bid for Salah from Al-Ittihad worth £150 million
- Salah has scored 188 goals in just 309 games for Liverpool since joining in 2017
Al-Ittihad are set to test Liverpool’s resolve to keep Mohamed Salah this summer as the Saudi Pro League champions are said to be preparing a world-record bid for the Egyptian forward.
The Reds previously rejected a first bid worth £15 0million for the 31-year-old forward before the European transfer window shut on September 1, and have maintained that Salah is not for sale.
According to the Independent, Al-Ittihad are gearing up to make a mammoth £215 million bid for Salah, which will automatically make the Egyptian the most expensive footballer on the planet if the deal pulls through.
The Saudi Arabian club’s new offer is believed to have an initial £170million transfer fee, with another £45million in add-ons as they hope to tempt Liverpool to offload Salah this summer.
If Liverpool accept this latest bid from Al-Ittihad, the Reds will not be able to sign a replacement for the Egyptian forward until the Premier League's transfer window opens again in January.
Salah's potential earnings at Al-Ittihad
Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad are willing to make Mohamed Salah the best-paid player in the Saudi Pro League, with some figures suggesting the forward could earn as much as £2.45m per week, the Daily Mirror reports.
The Egyptian forward’s contract would include a number of added incentives, with the 31-year-old set to be awarded a share of all shirt sales, a £55,000 win bonus, and ambassadorial roles with three major Saudi companies.
Salah, who joined Liverpool in 2017 from Italian giants AS Roma, has scored 188 goals in just 309 games for the Reds, becoming an essential member of the team under Jurgen Klopp.
