Hugo Broos has had to clarify some of the recent comments he made about Kaizer Chiefs' players.
The Bafana Bafana manager recently selected his 23-man side to play Namibia and DR Congo in two friendlies and opted not to select any Amakhosi players for the squad.
As noted by IOL, at the time, Broos said that no Chiefs player deserved to be in the national team squad.
His comments seemed to have touched a nerve with Chiefs, as coach Molefi Ntseki wants to meet with him, and Broos has now clarified what he meant.
In a recent press conference, Broos explained that he didn't mean that Chiefs' players were not skilled enough to represent Bafana. He added that when one looked at the table at the time, the Amakhosi only had four points, and even their fans were upset with how they were playing.
Fans threw objects at Ntseki after they were beaten by TS Galaxy in the league.
Broos calls up Pule Mmodi
Since the announcement of his team list, and the backlash that followed, Broos has called up a player from The Glamour Boys for the upcoming friendlies.
As noted by Sowetan LIVE, Broos selected Pule Mmodi as a replacement for the injured Themba Zwane.
Mmodi missed the opening game of the season for the Amakhosi following the death of his mother but has since scored three goals in four games for the Soweto side.
