Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana has agreed to return to the Cameroon national team after a temporary retirement following a disagreement with coach Rigobert Song.
Onana prematurely left the Indomitable Lions camp during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar over disciplinary issues.
He has since not made an appearance for the five-time African champions.
He was named in the squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifier against Burundi on September 12, 2023, in Garoua, as reported by the BBC.
In a statement confirming his return, Onana revealed his relentless desire to represent Cameroon.
"In the world of football, just like in life, defining moments arise, requiring crucial choices. In recent months, I have been confronted with trials marked by injustice and manipulation. However, my unwavering love and attachment to my homeland, Cameroon, remains intact," the statement read, as shared on social media.
"My desire to represent my country has never wavered since my youth, and this aspiration remains an inseparable part of my identity. Nothing and no one can shake this conviction. I respond to the call of my nation with unwavering certainty, aware that my return is not only intended to honor my dream, but also to respond to the expectation and support of Cameroonians, who deserve a national team determined to shine," he added.
Onana did not fully reveal why he left the team during the World Cup in Qatar, but sighted reasons as injustice and manipulation for his departure.

FootballEarlier, Sports Brief reported that Cameroonian goalkeeper, Andre Onana has set a new record as Inter Milan goalkeeper in the UEFA Champions League.
The former Ajax shot-stopper became the first Inter goalkeeper to keep seven (the most) clean sheets in a single season in the elite European competition.
Onana has also made the most saves in the competition, and the Nerazurris are on course to reach the final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2010.
