FootballMan United Star Alejandro Garnacho ‘Walks’ in Ronaldo’s Footsteps Against Arsenal
- Alejandro Garnacho thought he had won it for Manchester United against Arsenal
- His goal was ruled out after defender Gabriel Magalhaes' intelligent offside 'trick'
- The Gunners then scored twice in added minutes to hand the Red Devils a defeat
Alejandro Garnacho is an undoubted Cristiano Ronaldo fanboy but he took it to another level during Manchester United's 3-1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The youngster was promoted to the first team during Ronaldo's second spell at Old Trafford and he shared a close relationship with the Portuguese veteran, who he described as his idol.
The Al-Nassr superstar departed after the mutual termination of his contract following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, in which he slammed the club's management.
Garnacho, despite being a Spanish-born Argentine, has continually expressed love for Ronaldo and has called him football's greatest of all time, ahead of his compatriot, Lionel Messi.
Garnacho 'walks' in Ronaldo's footsteps
As noted by ESPN FC, against Arsenal, the teenager wore the Nike mercurial boot worn by Ronaldo against the same opposition in the 2009 UEFA Champions League semi-final.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner scored twice in the 3-1 second-leg win at the Emirates Stadium to help the Red Devils progress 4-1 on aggregate to the final, where they lost to Messi's Barcelona.
Garnacho thought he had given Erik ten Hag's men the win after coming off the bench, but an intelligent offside trick played by Arsenal defender, Gabriel Magalhaes ensured the goal was overturned.
The 38-year-old has been a Nike-endorsed athlete for some time and has worn the mercurial boot. As reported by Forbes, Ronaldo has a lifetime contract in 2016, reportedly worth around $1 billion.
According to Transfermarkt, the Al-Nassr forward scored nine goals and provided two assists in 18 games against the North London club.

Sports Brief also reported on Jadon Sancho hitting back at ten Hag after the manager cited a poor training attitude as the reason for dropping the winger from the matchday squad.
The English star has become the latest United player to have issues with the Dutch boss after Ronaldo and David De Gea and is the second to speak up after the five-time UCL winner.
