- Rulani Mokwena admitted the recent injury woes had caught his side unaware
Mamelodi Sundowns' injury woes continue to mount up.
The DStv Premiership champions are without a host of players and now have lost Themba Zwane as well.
As noted by The Citizen, Zwane will be out of action for up to two weeks after he suffered a cut to the side of his head during the MTN 8 game against Kaizer Chiefs.
He will miss Bafana Bafana’s upcoming friendlies as well.
Coach, Rulani Mokwena has now discussed the injury situation at the club, admitting it caught them 'with their pants down', FAR Post noted.
"What has happened has caught us a little bit with pants down and unawares. We’ve had some very good discussions internally with the football club, and they know my feelings," he said.
With Sundowns being involved in numerous competitions this season, Mokwena will be hoping to have his star players back.
The manager is hoping the international break will allow his side time to get some of their players back to full fitness.
Sundowns will be looking to retain the DStv Premiership while trying to win the MTN 8, Nedbank Cup, and CAF Champions League. They will also be competing in the African Football League that kicks off in October.
