- Neymar claims he experienced hell at PSG
- The Brazilian also admitted he failed to "make history" in France alongside Lionel Messi
- The duo have since moved on, with Neymar joining Al-Hilal while Messi moved to Inter Miami
Al-Hilal superstar Neymar Junior has now discussed his challenging experience alongside Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain.
The anticipation was high that Neymar, Messi, and Kylian Mbappe would join forces to create a formidable trio and lead PSG to success, especially in the UEFA Champions League.
However, over two seasons, the trio could only manage round-of-16 exits before Neymar and Messi departed Paris in the summer.
Their inability to guide the club to its promised glory led to some PSG fans labelling them as 'mercenaries' due to their substantial salaries at the time.
Nevertheless, they have both moved forward, with Messi winning the Leagues Cup for Inter Miami and guiding the club to another final appearance in the US Open Cup.
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old has joined the trend of elite stars by signing a lucrative deal with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. He is expected to return to action after the international break.
Sharing his reflections on his final season at PSG, Neymar disclosed his thoughts to Brazilian media outlet Globo, as reported by Daily Post.
“I was very happy for the year he had, but at the same time, very sad because he lived on both sides of the coin. He went to heaven with the Argentina team won everything in recent years, and with Paris, he lived in hell.
But he also admitted they failed to “make history” in France.
“We lived through hell, both he and I. We get upset because we’re not there for nothing. We’re there to do our best, be champions, and try to make history. That’s why we started playing together again; we came together there so we could make history. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it.”
