As noted by SABC Sport, Mokwena explained that Zwane had to be hospitalised for the cut on his head.

"Clearly, with a concussion for the next 10 to 14 days, it's a precautionary type of measure to get some rest and be a bit protective and cautious, especially in this space that we find ourselves in with our lack of offensive options," Mokwena explained.

He also bemoaned the fact that the foul went against Sundowns, even though Mshishi had to be stretchered off the field.

How Zwane was injured

Zwane suffered a deep cut on the side of his face after a tangle with Yusuf Maart during the MTN 8 semi-final clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns.

Zwane fell to the ground, and his face made contact with Maart’s boot. He received urgent medical attention before he was stretchered off and taken to hospital.

Sundowns drawn with Chiefs

The Brazilians could now be without Zwane for the second leg of the MTN 8 semi-final.

The two teams shared the spoils in Soweto during the first leg. As reported by SuperSport, Chiefs and Sundowns drew 1-1 after Khuliso Mudau scored an extra-time equaliser to ensure his side are level going into the second leg.

Edson Castillo gave the Amakhosi the lead in the game, despite Downs controlling the game.

Zwane carded before Sundowns’ game starts

If you think you have seen everything in football, think again.

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane has been involved in one of the strangest moments in football, as he was penalised before time was even on the clock.

The incident happened before the MTN8 game between Sundowns and Moroka Swallows, Sports Brief reported.
