FootballPSG Midfield Veteran Left Frustrated As Club Remains Determined to Offload Him
- The mass exodus of key personnel at Paris Saint Germain has continued
- Notable names, including Neymar Jr., have recently departed the Ligue 1 giant
- Midfielder Marco Verratti has been left frustrated as he is being forced through the exit
Paris Saint Germain appears to have shifted its approach from an individual-centric approach to a team-based approach following the appointment of Spanish coach Luis Enrique.
The club, looking to return to a policy it implemented in the early years of its Qatari takeover, have gradually fazed out players who were the mainstay in the team in recent years.
Following the departure of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, a host of other players, including Neymar Jr. and Leandro Paredes, have been discarded by the French club.
Another player next in line to depart the French giant is Marco Verratti, who, according to RTL Journalist Abdellah Boulma, is disappointed with the PSG hierarchy.
Verratti left disappointed with PSG’s hierarchy
The diminutive Italian midfielder, who has been with the Parisian club since the summer of 2012, finds himself deeply frustrated after being deemed surplus to requirements under the club’s new management.
Initially, Verratti was linked with several clubs, including Manchester United and Al Hilal, as the transfer window approached its end. However, with no move materializing, recent reports have connected the midfielder with a potential transfer to the Qatari Super League club Al Arabi.
According to Sports Italia, Verratti, alongside teammate Julian Draxler, could be on their way to the Qatari club in a deal valued around ₤65 million.
When asked about Verratti’s situation in a press conference, Coach Luis Enrique maintained the club’s stance. Quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Enrique said:
“I don’t make the private conversations public. The advice that I was able to give him remains private, nothing more to say about that.”

FootballIt remains uncertain whether a deal for Verratti to join the Qatari league will be finalized before the Middle East club transfer window closes on September 18th.
Marco Verratti’s agent blasts PSG
Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Verratti’s former agent tearing into PSG and how the club is run, comparing the Ligue 1 champions to a prison and even claiming they ‘blackmail’ players to stay.
In an explosive revelation, Donato Di Campli also alleged the Ligue 1 champions blocked his ex-client from joining Barcelona years earlier, and his livelihood as a football agent was also threatened.
