  • Black Stars coach Chris Hughton has named the squad for the CAR game
  • Ghana will be without Arsenal star Thomas Partey for the game next week
  • Baba Abdul Rahman, Elisha Owusu and Baba Iddrisu return to the team

Arsenal star Thomas Partey has not been named in the Ghana squad to face the Central African Republic in the final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier next week.

Partey has reportedly picked an injury and will be out for a while, leaving Chris Hughton with no option than to name his team without his deputy captain.

His absence will be a huge blow for the Black Stars who need at least a draw to qualify for the tournament in Ivory Coast next year.

Hughton disappointed after Ghana draw against Madagascar

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana coach, Chris Hughton has expressed frustrations following the Black Stars' disappointing performance against Madagascar in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The four-time African champions failed to secure early qualification and will have to wait until the final game in Group E to confirm their participation at the tournament in Ivory Coast next year.

The Black Stars will host the Central African Republic in September with the hopes of securing one of the spots for AFCON 2023.
