  • Joao Felix joined Barcelona on loan from Atletico Madrid earlier in the year
  • His past comments on Lionel Messi made him an instant Camp Nou darling
  • Felix previously snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo twice in favour of his arch-rival

Joao Felix landed his dream transfer in September after joining Barcelona on loan for the rest of the season. The Atletico Madrid striker had been categorical in the past that La Blaugrana was his club of choice.

Xavi Hernandez's side made this move happen, with the striker joining alongside his namesake and international teammate, Joao Cancelo and he has been impressive so far.

Felix's career hasn't hit the expected heights after Atletico Madrid forked out an excess of €120 million to sign him from Benfica in 2019.

He spent a part of last season on loan at Chelsea, but the West London club turned down the opportunity to make the deal permanent.

Felix then joined the defending La Liga champions and was an instant hit, thanks to a past interview of him that resurfaced online.

He was asked to choose the better free kick taker between Lionel Messi and his Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo - and chose the Argentine.

Felix omits Ronaldo from his favourite team

The 23-year-old then snubbed Ronaldo once again when asked to make up his favourite squad.

Felix named a star-studded attacking team comprised of Messi, Neymar, Bernardo Silva, and himself, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

His past comments have given him a perfect headstart in Catalunya as he seeks to excel on a turf Messi made his own for almost 15 years.

Felix has made seven goal contributions for Barcelona in the campaign so far, per Transfermarkt.

Peter Crouch settles GOAT debate

Numerous footballers have shared their perspectives on the timeless football 'greatest of all time' or 'GOAT' debate over the last 15 years.

As Sports Brief previously reported, Peter Crouch's stance on Messi vs Ronaldo could be one of the most contentious from an ex-professional.

As per the ex-Liverpool striker, those who favour the Portuguese star over the Argentine 'lacked an understanding of the game of football'.
