  • Sofyan Amrabat has completed his loan move to Manchester United from Fiorentina
  • He becomes Erik ten Hag's sixth signing of this transfer window as they return to Champions League football
  • Amrabat has previously shown what he is capable of with a brutal tackle on Kylian Mbappe

After weeks of speculation, reported mutiny and a delay in finding a solution to comply with Financial Fair Play Rules, Sofyan Amrabat is finally a Manchester United player.

The Moroccan midfielder was among the high-profile players who swapped clubs on deadline day as he moved to England on a season-long loan deal from Fiorentina.

Sky Sports reports that the Red Devils paid 10 million euros as a loan fee with an option to buy for 25 million euros once the loan is over.

Where will Amrabat play for Manchester United?

Amrabat is a holding midfielder with almost similar tendencies to Casemiro, but he will be expected to line up alongside the Brazilian in a double pivot system for Erik ten Hag.

His arrival at the Theatre of Dreams will help the Dutchman seal the loopholes he still had in his squad.

The 27-year-old gave Manchester United fans and other interested parties a glimpse of what he was made of during the 2022 World Cup staged in Qatar.

He was part of the Atlas Lions squad that made the fairytale run to the semifinals - the first African country to do so. Walid Regragui's side faced the then-defending champions France in the last four but suffered a huge setback in their quest to reach the finals after Theo Hernandez scored inside five minutes.

Kylian Mbappe was then set through on goal and with his lightning pace and finishing accuracy, there was a good chance he would make something happen.

Amrabat's tackle on Mbappe

With the game threatening to get out of Morocco's hand, Amrabat charged down at Mbappe and wiped out the PSG star just outside the penalty area.

His tackle was adjudged to be a fair one and despite leaving Mbappe writhing in pain, he was allowed to carry on with play.

"You can see from the way I ran, and you can see from my face, that I put everything into that sprint. Everybody knows what a fantastic player he is and how fast he is. And he was gone! It was 1-0 and I knew if they made it 2-0, the game was finished," he said as quoted by the Athletic.

Manchester United will be hoping to see more of that, especially now that they will be facing Bayern Munich speed stars in the Champions League.

Mason Greenwood joins Getafe

Sports Brief has also reported that Mason Greenwood received a last-gasp opportunity to restart his career after Getafe moved in for him on deadline day.

With time running out, it looked like the Manchester United player would have to contend with more months on the sidelines. Last month, the club had mutually agreed with him that he would no longer play for them again.

Greenwood has not played competitively since January 2022, when he was accused of coercive behaviour and sexual assault. He was arrested and subsequently arraigned in court before his charges were dropped early this year.
