Gaston Sirino's future at Mamelodi Sundowns is still up in the air.
The Uruguayan attacker has been a notable absentee for the club this season, and coach Rulani Mokwena has now shed a little more light on the situation.
As noted by Goal, Sirino has told the club that he wants to leave.
The 32-year-old has been at the club for six seasons and has won a trophy with the team every season so far. Sirino has featured 178 times for the Brazilians. He has scored 36 goals and provided 42 assists during his time at the club.
Touching on the matter, Mokwena said that everything is being done that's in the best interest of the club with regard to the situation, iDiski Times reported.
“What happens to all players? It’s the responsibility of the club to give you more information in relation to that, it starts and ends with the club, Everything that is done, by myself, like every other employee of Sundowns, is done in the best interest of the club.
“The matter is now with the football club and once there’s further communication, I’m sure the club will let you in on that," he said.
Sirino has been linked with a move to Egypt should he leave the DStv Premiership champions, but former Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane is also rumoured to be interested in the player.
