FootballFormer Nigerian Star Explains Why Victor Osimhen Should Have Accepted Mega Offer From Saudi Club
- Etim Esin says he would have moved to the Saudi Pro League if he was in Victor Osimhen’s shoes
- Napoli striker Osimhen was offered a €1m-per-week wage by Al-Hilal, but he chose to remain in Italy
- Esin, however, admitted that the striker is still young, but hopes that he remains injury-free
Former Nigerian international, Etim Esin has stated that he would have accepted a mega-money move to the Saudi Professional League if he were Victor Osimhen.
Al-Hilal made a staggering proposal of €1m-per-week wage to Osimhen, who opted to stay at Italian club Napoli.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo made a stunning move to the Gulf nation, several top players, including Neymar, N’Golo Kante, and Kalidou Koulibaly, have all moved to the Saudi top flight.
In a chat with Nigerian outlet Complete Sports, Lokeren of Belgium star Esin stated that he would have made the switch if he were in Osimhen’s shoes.
Esin said:
“To be sincere, I would have accepted the offer from the Saudi Pro League club if I were in Osimhen’s shoes because it’s a lifetime offer that comes just once.
“One thing Osimhen must understand again is that players have limited time to enjoy their career, and God forbid, if injury set in, the player’s worth might decline.
“At the end of the day, how much did Napoli pay to get Osimhen? They would have gotten double the money. Right now, he is the hottest striker in Europe after Haaland.
“Since age is on his side, I hope he stays injury-free, but if you ask me, I would have joined the Saudi club.”
