  • Barcelona are long-time admirers of Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix
  • Joao Felix is reportedly out of the first-team frame at Atletico Madrid
  • The Spanish champions are now in line to complete a transfer for the attacker

Barcelona's summer transfer business looks to have lit up in the final week of the window.

Following a long, boring window that was heralded by the exodus of Frack Kessie to Al Ahli and Ousmane Dembele to European giants Paris Saint Germain, the La Liga champions were able to get over the line signings of two free agents – defender Inigo Martinez and Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan.

Barcelona also completed the transfer of Girona’s Oriol Romeu for a fee in the region of ₤3 million, which was speculated to be the final signing of the club’s summer window.

However, Barcelona, in the unlikeliest of transfer twists, the Catalan club is reported to have reached an agreement to sign one of La Liga’s biggest forwards, Joao Felix.

Barcelona reach an agreement for Felix

The Spanish powerhouse, as reported by Madrid-based outlet Marca have reportedly reached an agreement to sign the 23-year-old Portuguese forward from rivals Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan.

Felix who has not had the best of spells since completing his record transfer from Benfica to the Civitas Metropolitano earlier in August, declared his desire to play for the Blaugrana as reported by Goal.

Cadena Ser reports the Portuguese attacker to have been excused from training at Atletico Madrid and could be on a flight to Barcelona immediately after he gets the directive.

The Blaugrana who currently cannot afford a permanent transfer for Felix due to his astronomical transfer fee will complete the transfer for the Atleti forward for ₤8 million in addition to paying his full salary.

Atletico to terminate Felix’s contract?

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Atletico Madrid dismissing Felix's exit attempts as he sought to terminate his contract and force a move away from the Spanish club this summer.

The Portuguese youngster received a hostile reception at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium during his club's La Liga opening game against Granada, where the home fans booed him.

However, Atletico has reportedly told Felix he will need to buy out his own contract if he is that desperate to leave this summer after describing his termination request as 'a joke'.
