According to Barca Universal, Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has been impressed by Yamal’s performances and has named him in the squad for their upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers.

Should he make his debut for the national team, Yamal will become the youngest player ever to have represented Spain at the senior level, a record currently held by Barcelona teammate Gavi.

Spain will travel to Georgia to kickstart their Euro qualifying campaign on September 8 before coming home to host Cyprus four days later in Madrid on September 12.

Lamine Yamal’s strange celebration explained

Meanwhile, Yamal’s celebration with both hands making a 304 sign with his fingers has been linked to the Barcelona teenager’s roots while growing up in the city of Rocafonda, Football Espana reports.

Being in touch with his roots, 304 forms the final three numbers of the postcode in Rocafonda, the town where the Barcelona wonderkid grew up with his father.

Yamal and his father Mounir spent hours walking and sitting on trains in the early hours or late evenings to get to training because they did not live at the La Masia housing that Barcelona has close to their training facility.

Yamal appears destined for greatness

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Lamine Yamal’s sizzling performance at the Estadio La Ceramica against Villarreal left many in awe of the talent possessed by the 16-year-old.

The La Masia graduate provided the assist for Barcelona’s opening goal and was instrumental in ensuring Xavi Hernandez’s side completed their comeback win against Quique Setien’s highflying Villarreal.

Fans visibly in awe of the youngster’s ability have continued to react on social media following his display, with a few tipping him to fill in the void created by the sudden departure of Lionel Messi in 2021.
