  • Alex Iwobi is set to leave Everton for English Premier League rivals Fulham
  • The Cottagers added Adama Traore, Calvin Bassey, Raúl Jimenez, Steven Benda and Timothy Castagne to their ranks this summer
  • Iwobi could return to London after leaving Arsenal for the Merseyside Blues in 2019

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is set to join English Premier League side Fulham in a deal worth £20 million on transfer window deadline day.

Iwobi was arguably Everton's best player last season as they struggled for most parts of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

The Toffees were close to being relegated from the English top flight last season, and they are currently one of the teams without a win after three games in the 2023/2024 season.

One Football report via Standard Sport claims that Fulham are close to signing the former Arsenal star, as they are set to lose Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha to German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.

Iwobi might not come in as a direct replacement for Palhinha, but the Nigerian international is a utility player who can deputise in attacking areas and also in the midfield department.

A recent report by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that both Fulham and Everton have agreed to transfer the Super Eagles star.

Fulham added the likes of Adama Traore, Calvin Bassey, Raúl Jimenez, Steven Benda and Timothy Castagne in this summer transfer window.

However, if Iwobi officially joins the Cottagers, then he would play alongside his fellow Nigerian International, Calvin Bassey, who was also signed in this summer's transfer window from Eredivisie side Ajax.

Everton's Battle To Keep Iwobi

Sports Brief earlier reported that Premier League side Everton are now facing a serious battle in keeping Super Eagles attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi, who is into the final year of his contract at the club.

Last season, Everton chiefs were on the verge of making the Nigerian sign a new deal, but Iwobi changed his mind due to the club's battle against relegation.

The Toffees eventually escaped relegation, and Iwobi has now emerged as a summer transfer target for many clubs in the Premier League.
