  • Victor Osimhen is set to sign new contract with the reigning Italian Serie A champions Napoli
  • The Partenopei are set to include fresh clauses into the new deal that will be proposed to the Nigerian international

Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen is set to extend his contract with Italian Serie A champions Napoli amid links to different top clubs in Europe.

The Partenopei will include new clauses in his contract amid interest from rival club Juventus, who are also monitoring the 24-year-old.

Osimhen was one of the standout players for Napoli last season as they won the league title, ending a 33-year drought, and also making it to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Last season, the Nigerian international guided his team to the Serie A title with 26 goals in 32 matches, also securing the Golden Boot.

The Nigerian striker's performances last season caught the eyes of top clubs, with Napoli offering him a new contract to wade off suitors.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Italian side included a clause that would prevent the former Lille striker from joining their rivals Juventus in the future.

Juventus have snapped up top talents from Napoli in times past. With these known, the Partenopei want to avoid losing another talent to the Bianconeri.

Osimhen is one of Napoli's prized assets and losing him to a direct rival is one thing the club's president Aurelio De Laurentiis will want to avoid.

Napoli want a €150m release clause in Osimhen's new contract, while his agent is pushing for €110m.

Arsenal in talks with Osimhen

Sportsbrief earlier reported that English Premier League club Arsenal have continued talks with Nigerian international Victor Osimhen ahead of a possible transfer next summer.

It was gathered that the club’s sporting director, Edu Gaspar, reached out to Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis to inquire about the 24-year-old forward.

The Gunners are in a desperate bid to sign a world-class striker next year, and the former Lille of France striker has been identified.
