Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Saudi Pro League 'Player of the Month' for August after a dominant performance from the Al-Nassr forward in the month under review.
The 38-year-old beat competition from Igor Coronado (Al-Ittihad), Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahli), and Malcom (Al-Hilal) to the prestigious award after the winner was announced on Thursday.
According to Sportskeeda, Ronaldo was on song this month for Al-Nassr, with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scoring five goals and providing two assists in three appearances.
After failing to score against Al-Taawooun, the Portuguese star scored a hat-trick against Al-Fateh and then added a brace against Al-Shabab in the following league match.
This is the second time Ronaldo has won the Saudi Pro League 'Player of the Month' award after winning his first such award with his new league in February.
Ronaldo's Champions League return quashed
Meanwhile, Ronaldo's hopes of playing in the Champions League again - this time with Al-Nassr - have been shattered after UEFA ruled out future Saudi participation in the competition, GOAL reports.
Saudi Pro League chief operating officer, Carlo Nohra had previously revealed they were working to see how they could partner with the association to allow Saudi teams to play in Europe’s elite club competition.
UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin kicked against the prospect of sides from the country playing in its competitions, dismissing media reports suggesting they could gain a wildcard entry to the Champions League.
