Nigerian international, Wilfred Ndidi is on the radar of Liverpool, who are planning a shock swoop before the transfer window deadline day.
Ndidi was part of the Leicester City squad that was relegated from the Premier League last season but remained a regular starter for the Foxes even in the Championship.
However, a number of clubs are on the trail of the defensive midfielder, including Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Bayern Munich.
Independent reports via Team Talk claim that Liverpool are looking to sign Ndidi as the fourth midfield signing of the summer.
Leicester City are also hoping to cash in on the Super Eagles star, while the player is also desperate to leave the club.
So far this summer, Liverpool have confirmed the arrival of midfielders Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo.
Although Endo is the only natural defensive-minded option, fans at Anfield are still unsure how manager Jurgen Klopp intends to use the player.
There is a feeling that Liverpool might need a more established replacement for Fabinho, but finding the right option has been hard for them.
A recent report said they would no longer be looking to sign an out-and-out holding midfielder, but could still try to get a versatile option who could cover in the role.
Ndidi’s market value drops
Sports Brief earlier reported that Wilfred Ndidi's market transfer value has nosedived from €60m to €25m in just one year following the relegation of Leicester City from the Premier League at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Ndidi suffered a drop in his transfer market value on four consecutive occasions in September and November 2022, as well as March and June 2023.
