  • Hugo Broos has announced his 23-man team for Bafana Bafana's games against Namibia and DR Congo
  • Once again, no Kaizer Chiefs players have been selected by the Belgian manager for his final squad
  • Broos believes that Chiefs' players don't deserve to be in the squad based on their performances

The Bafana Bafana squad has been announced, and once again, no Kaizer Chiefs players have made the cut.

Coach Hugo Broos unveiled his 23-man squad, which will contest two friendlies in September.

As noted by News24, seven players from Mamelodi Sundowns made the cut, as did five stars from Orlando Pirates, but there is no representation from the Amakhosi.

Speaking about the decision to omit anyone from The Glamour Boys, Broos said that the club needed to improve. He highlighted that Chiefs were far behind Sundowns at the top of the DStv Premiership after only a handful of games, which shouldn’t be the case. Sundowns currently lead Chiefs by 11 points on the table, having played a game more.

He then added that he was at a Chiefs game recently to watch them in action.

“I’m very sorry, but for now, for the moment, there is no player that deserves to be a Bafana Bafana player,” Broos said.

Bafana’s next games

South Africa will take on Namibia on September 9 and then DR Congo three days later. The games will provide Broos with a platform to fine-tune his side for next year's Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Zwane speaks about Bafana snubs

Earlier Sports Brief reported on how Arthur Zwane reacted to the Amakhosi’s players being snubbed by coach Hugo Broos.

Not a single player from Kaizer Chiefs has been selected for the latest Bafana Bafana squad.

National team coach, Broos was rather blunt about the reasons for this recently, having a go at the Soweto giants alongside their rivals, Orlando Pirates.

Broos lays into Chiefs, Pirates

It is no secret that both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are mediocre outfits at the moment.

This is as Sundowns tightens its stranglehold on South African football, Sports Brief also reported.

Bafana Bafana coach, Broos has expressed his annoyance with the Soweto giants for their decline.
