Manchester United are likely to miss the services of up to eight players ahead of their Premier League meeting with Arsenal.

The Red Devils are scheduled to face the Gunners in their fourth match of the season on Sunday, September 3, at the Emirates Stadium.

The match comes at a time when United have registered a mixed run of form in three of their opening matches of the new season.

Erik ten Hag's charges have struggled to click in the three outings, with the most recent ending in a 3-2 dramatic win over Nottingham Forest.

BBC Sport reported that the Manchester outfit had to come from two goals down to see off Nottingham Forest, albeit controversially.

Man United's growing injury list

Ten Hag will have more than his team's form to worry about ahead of United's trip to the Emirates, with the Old Trafford dwellers currently having a number of players on their treatment table.

According to Manchester Evening News, Raphael Varane is the latest addition to the already growing list of injured players just three games into the new season.

The publication reports that the Red Devils are yet to reveal the cause of the Frenchman's injury.

However, it has since been confirmed that he will be out for a 'few weeks', meaning he will play no role in the Sunday cracker.

The World Cup winner featured in United's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest but was unable to see off the rest of the match after he picked up an injury.

Sports Brief takes a look at the seven other injured stars ahead of United's meeting with Arsenal:

1. Mason Mount

The former Chelsea midfielder has endured a slow start to life at Manchester United.

His torrid run of form has been aggravated further by an injury layoff.

Mount is expected to be sidelined at least until after the international break.

2. Luke Shaw

The Englishman is the other key player out injured.

Shaw is likely to be out for longer than Mount.

3. Tyrell Malacia

The left-back is battling a knee injury and has yet to feature this season due to the layoff.

4. Rasmus Winther Hojlund

Hojlund joined Man United from Atalanta this summer.

However, he seemingly arrived injured, with the Dane battling a back problem ahead of his much-anticipated debut.

5. Amad Diallo Traore

The star winger is leiley to be out for some time after he picked up a knee injury during the pre-season.

Diallo, who spent last season away on loan has been ruled out for the first part of the new campaign.

6. Kobbie Mainoo

Like Daillo, Mainoo also picked up his injury during the pre-season.

The United youngster is battling an ankle/foot injury.

7. Tom Heaton

And finally on the injury list is Tom Heaton.

The shotstopper has a calf strain.

Mount misses sitter

Sports Brief also reported on how Mason Mount missed a sitter early in the game against RC Lens.

Having started the game brightly, United got a brilliant chance in the 15th minute, and it came to their £55 million signing.

After some intricate passing, United youngster Alejandro Garnacho found himself through on goal, but the angle was a bit tight and he decided to square the ball to Mount, who had also made the run forward.
