Football fans were in awe of Cristiano Ronaldo's elegant act witnessed during Al-Nassr's victory against Al-Shabab.

The Portuguese phenom was on the verge of securing a hattrick in the match but chose to provide Abdulrahman Ghareeb the opportunity to score when their team earned a penalty.

Ghareeb has struggled this season, failing to find the net in his four appearances.

However, in the 63rd minute, with Al-Nassr leading 3-0, the usually goal-focused Ronaldo offered him a valuable chance to open his scoring account, per the Sun.

Ronaldo is the designated penalty taker for Al-Nassr, and he had already successfully converted two penalties in the first half of the game.

The 38-year-old was just a goal away from his 64th career hattrick and second in the space of a week at the same time, but he instead chose to throw away the opportunity to help his fellow teammate for what has been a dry spell for the Saudi player, ESPN reported.

However, this occurrence isn't a novelty, as we've previously witnessed Ronaldo opting to hand over a penalty to his teammate instead of taking it himself.

Let's delve into the top 5 of these moments.

5. Kaka vs Villarreal

In a memorable match against Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu, Gonzalo Higuain earned a penalty by getting fouled inside the box, with Blancos already in the lead.

Merely three minutes after Ronaldo had initiated the scoring, he chose to pass the penalty to Kaka, giving the former Milan forward an opportunity to add to the scoreboard. Kaka executed flawlessly, deceiving the goalkeeper with his shot.

Ronaldo, visibly delighted, was the first to congratulate Kaka with an embrace.

4. Alonso vs Villarreal

During that very match, Real Madrid earned a second penalty just three minutes before the end, with the match already decided at 5-2. Kaka and Higuain had both secured a brace at that point and as previously noted, Ronaldo had netted the initial goal.

So, although the initial act of generosity was unexpected by many, the repetition of it in the same game was truly unforeseen.

Presented with another prime chance to enhance his goal record, the Portuguese star once again deferred and let Xabi Alonso take the spot-kick, resulting in another goal.

3. Ramos vs Athletic Bilbao

During Real Madrid's match against Athletic Bilbao in 2010, Sergio Ramos found the net, and Cristiano Ronaldo's choice to pass on the penalty-taking responsibility proved successful.

Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain had already contributed to the scoresheet, yet rather than increasing their individual tallies, it was Ramos who stepped up for the penalty and magnificently placed it into the top corner.

Interestingly, there was another awarded penalty in the late stages, but on this occasion, the No.7 decided to take it himself, sealing a hattrick.

2. Benzema vs Real Murcia

This situation arose during a Copa Del Rey match between Real Madrid and underdogs Real Murcia. After a goalless draw in the first leg, the Whites orchestrated a remarkable performance, securing a commanding 3-0 lead with fifteen minutes remaining.

In the 82nd minute, Pedro Munino converted a penalty to pull one back, and three minutes later, it was Real Madrid's opportunity to take a penalty.

In this match, Ronaldo, who notched his debut Copa Del Rey goal, willingly surrendered his chance to score a second by allowing Benzema to take the penalty. The Frenchman confidently placed it high in the corner, extending the home team's lead.

1. Kaka vs Marseille

During only their second Champions League match with Real Madrid, led by then-manager Manuel Pellegrini, Los Blancos earned a penalty around the hour mark. Ronaldo had already propelled them ahead.

Rather than securing his consecutive brace in European competition with the Whites (as he had netted twice in the opening game against Zurich), the Portuguese star opted to step aside, allowing Kaka to take the shot, and the Brazilian found the target once more.

Ronaldo swiftly scored his second goal just moments later, yet his decision to forego the penalty meant he passed up another chance—albeit intentionally—to achieve another hat-trick.

This could have marked his first hat-trick in the Champions League with Real Madrid.

Ronaldo's new celebration

On Tuesday, August 29, Cristiano Ronaldo unveiled a fresh goal celebration against Al Shabab while maintaining his scorching form for Al-Nassr, Sports Brief reported.

The legendary Real Madrid forward showcased this new celebration, causing it to become a social media sensation quickly.
