- Victor Osimhen is on Arsenal’s radar as the English club continue their search for a top striker
- Sporting director Edu Gaspar has reached out to Napoli over the availability of the Nigerian forward
- The Premier League outfit are considering a move for the point man ahead of next summer
English Premier League club Arsenal have continued talks with Nigerian international Victor Osimhen ahead of a possible transfer next summer.
It was gathered that the club’s sporting director, Edu Gaspar, reached out to Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis to inquire about the 24-year-old forward.
The Gunners are in a desperate bid to sign a world-class striker next year, and the former Lille of France striker has been identified.
Last season, there was no point-man for the Gunners as Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka all scored 15 each.
A report by Football Transfer confirmed that Arsenal are negotiating with Napoli over Osimhen. The platform wrote:
“We are informed that Arsenal sporting director, Edu Gaspar, contacted the owner of the Serie A club, Aurelio De Laurentiis, to ask about the availability of the player, having been given encouragement by the 24-year-old’s agent, Roberto Calenda.
“We are told that Osimhen, whose contract is up at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in 2025, is not believed to be wanting to sign fresh terms with his current employers.”
On Sunday, Osimhen reached a significant milestone, netting his 100th professional career goal from the penalty spot against Sassuolo.
Ancelotti speaks on Osimhen situation
Sports Brief earlier reported that Carlo Ancelotti recently discussed the transfer rumours swirling around Napoli's forward, Victor Osimhen, and a potential move to Real Madrid.
Osimhen, who played a crucial role in ending Napoli's 33-year Italian Serie A drought, was rumoured to be a candidate to replace Karim Benzema at Madrid, who departed for Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad.
When asked about the potential signing of Osimhen to fill Benzema's shoes, Ancelotti expressed admiration for the former LOSC Lille centre forward, but swiftly dismissed the links, citing Jude Bellingham's arrival as a resolution to any concerns about the striker position.
