  • Fred moved from Manchester United to Fenerbahce this summer after five years at Old Trafford
  • The midfielder made headlines on Tuesday as he appeared to confirm his former club’s next signing
  • Meanwhile, United’s Dean Henderson is set to join Crystal Palace

Former Manchester United midfielder, Fred inadvertently appeared to confirm the club’s next signing in a recent interview.

In his introductory press conference at Istanbul, Fred, who joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the summer, bid farewell to the club’s goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

United signed Andre Onana in the summer, but are looking for a second-choice goalkeeper to act as an understudy to the Cameroon international.

And Fred appeared to confirm that the man for the job would be Bayindir as he told reporters he wished the goalkeeper luck on his next endeavours.

“I wished Altay good luck when he left; he is going to join a great team. Altay will be happy at Manchester United,” Fred said, as quoted on Manchester Evening News.
“I gave him some suggestions about places where he could live, and I told him it rains a lot!”

Bayindir, 25, will likely replace Dean Henderson, who United will allow to join Crystal Palace once they secure the signing.

The Fenerbahce player is set to move to Old Trafford for £4.25m.

United boss, Erik ten Hag has been keen on making more signings before the close of the summer transfer window, and will take aim at another left-back once he fills up the goalkeeping gap.

A number of names have already been tossed in the rumour mill, including Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso.

In midfield, Sofyan Amrabat and Ryan Gravenberch have also been considered, as per Sportbible.

Donnarumma confirms Mbappe’s next destination

Sports Brief also reported on Kylian Mbappe’s possible next destination as suggested by his teammate at Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite the Frenchman's consistent on-field excellence, questions linger about his future with the club, where he has become the all-time leading goal scorer during his six-year tenure.

Reacting to rumours, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma firmly believes that Mbappe will not depart from the club this summer.
