Eden Hazard’s career nosedive remains one of football’s saddest tales following the glowing heights he attained during his seven-year stint at Chelsea was brought to a crashing low after he made his record switch to Real Madrid.
The 32-year-old Belgian who moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2019 experienced an injury-plagued stint with the La Liga giants, ultimately leading to the termination of his contract a year earlier than anticipated.
Hazard who featured for Real Madrid just 76 times in four years, is a far cry from his impactful presence during his Chelsea years and has been without a club since exiting the Spanish club at the end of June.
The forward, who has not been short of suitors, is reported by Footmercato to be considering retirement.
Hazard to consider retirement?
The former Chelsea star is believed to have lost his joy for the beautiful game as per reports from Goal, and he turned down offers from three Ligue clubs; Nice, Marseille and former club Lille.
There are approaches from the Turkish Supa Lig and the MLS, which the forward is also reported to have turned down.
Hazard is believed to be enjoying his time with his family and is seriously considering retiring from football.
Hazard’s reputation peaked when he departed the Premier League giants, Chelsea, to join Madrid in 2019. Regrettably, he grappled with issues of form and fitness during his spell in Spain. These struggles eventually led to his separation from Real Madrid after managing just seven goals in his four-year stint.
