As noted by Soccer Laduma, Mamelodi Sundowns are considering promoting the 15-year-old to the first team.

Sibiya was recently named Defender of the Tournament at the Gauteng Engen Challenge and has represented South Africa at the under-17 level.

With the defender turning heads, Masandawana are looking at the possibility of moving him up to the first squad, but are concerned about his school career as well.

“At first, they didn’t want to rush him because of school commitments, but his talents cannot be ignored. He will be part of both the senior team and the DStv Diski Challenge team so that he is given proper guidance and chances to integrate into the big league,” a source told the publication.

While many may find it strange for a 15-year-old to be playing professional football, the phenomenon is not a strange one in Europe.

Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal is proof that teenagers can play among the big boys.

As noted by Football Espana, the 16-year-old stole the show as he inspired Barca to a 4-3 win over Villarreal. He was even given a standing ovation by opposition fans when he was finally substituted.

Meanwhile, Yamal dazzled for Barcelona in a thrilling La Liga encounter as the champions secured a 4-3 victory against Villarreal on Sunday, Sports Brief reported.

The 16-year-old winger played a vital role in his team's opening score, orchestrating the goal for Gavi in an impressive display amid the frenetic pitch battle.

Yamal stepped in for suspended winger, Raphinha, and has undoubtedly presented coach, Xavi, with a selection dilemma for the weekend when the Brazilian returns.

Lamine Yamal earns standing ovation

Sports Brief also reported on Yamal earning a standing ovation from Villarreal fans after his performance for Barcelona in their thrilling seven-goal contest at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

After playing a role in the Catalans' fourth goal, Xavi decided to substitute him. As he made his way to the bench, Yamal was greeted with an enthusiastic standing ovation from Villarreal fans.

The reception by the opposition fans evoked memories of the reception Ronaldinho received after his mesmerising performance against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in 2005.
