Spain and Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez has condemned the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president, Luis Rubiales, over the latest scandal with the women’s national team.
Rubiales has come under heavy criticism and has recently been suspended by FIFA for forcefully kissing Spain forward Jenni Hermoso during their post-match World Cup celebrations.
According to SB Nation, Raul has expressed his support for the women’s national team while reiterating that the behaviour of Rubiales has given Spanish football a bad image.
“I refer to the statement of the club, but the image that is being given is not the best, and it hurts us. I give all my support to women’s football and talk about this historic achievement, and from here I congratulate and support all the players”.
FIFA slammed Rubiales on Friday, August 25th, with a three-month suspension from all football-related activities while investigations continue on his behaviour.
Andreas Iniesta condemns Luis Rubiales
Meanwhile, Andreas Iniesta has also joined in condemning Luis Rubiales after the Barcelona legend tweeted that the Spanish FA president’s behaviour should not be condoned, Daily Post reports.
Iniesta, who won the 2010 FIFA World Cup with Spain’s men’s national team, revealed that the scandal rocking Spanish football has tarnished a milestone as big as winning a World Cup.
Rubiales, who had since apologised for his behaviour, refused to resign despite calls for his resignation but spoke of “unjust” campaigns and “fake feminism” during his recent defiant speech.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Barcelona president Joan Laporta continued to criticise Luis Rubiales ahead of a potential government sanction against the suspended Spain chief.
