- The Brazilian injured his hamstring in the slim victory against Celta Vigo on Friday
- Vinicius was set to lead Real Madrid’s attack this season after Karim Benzema’s departure
Real Madrid have been dealt a huge blow with the latest reports concerning the injury sustained by Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior during their La Liga clash against Celta Vigo.
The 24-year-old was taken off the pitch after collapsing to the ground holding his hamstring, with manager Carlo Ancelotti appearing to downplay the seriousness of the injury.
According to Football Espana, the injury is worse than initially thought, and Vinicius will miss a minimum of a month of action or up to six weeks for Los Blancos.
This could rule him out of a number of key games in September and may require a change of plans for Ancelotti, as Real Madrid cannot afford to miss the Brazilian for long stretches this season.
Ancelotti has previously ruled out signing any more attackers this summer, but the injury to Vinicius may force Real Madrid to acquire another back-up attacker.
Vinicius Junior's injury record
Vinicius Junior has appeared in all but 11 La Liga matches for Real Madrid in the last three seasons at the Bernabeu, and the majority of his absences have not been due to injury, 90MIN reports.
The Brazilian forward has been seriously injured only once in his Madrid career, when he suffered a ruptured knee ligament that kept him out for two months in 2019.
This latest injury to Vinicius is seen as a setback for Real Madrid, who are already battling an injury crisis, with Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao, and Arda Guler all out with varying lengths of injuries.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Real Madrid suffered yet another injury woe this season after Vinicius Junior sustained a knock that ruled out the Brazilian forward for the rest of their tie against Celta Vigo.
