Jurgen Klopp was forced to intervene after Virgil van Dijk was red-carded during Liverpool's Premier League meeting with Newcastle United on Sunday.
The Reds skipper was handed his marching orders after he was adjudged to have stopped a goalscoring opportunity by bringing down Alexander Isak.
According to The Sun, Van Dijk's action earned him a direct red card.
However, the decision did not go down well with the Dutchman and he was reluctant to leave the pitch after his sending-off.
The Netherlands international appeared to continue shouting in the direction of the referees.
Van Dijk's antics caught the attention of Klopp, who quickly stepped in to diffuse the situation.
The Mirror reports that the German boss gently pushed his centre back down the tunnel before he returned to the dugout after having a word with the fourth official.
Liverpool stun Newcastle
