  • Mbappe was involved in a high-profile contract dispute with the club in the summer

Despite a turbulent summer, Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe was in top form in their Ligue 1 encounter against Lens on Saturday night.

The reigning champions won 3-1 to register their first win in Ligue 1 after drawing their first two games.

The 24-year-old World Cup winner scored a brace after making his first start of the season. Marco Asensio opened the scoring at the stroke of halftime with a curling effort.

Mbappe emphatically doubled PSG's lead shortly after the break before adding a third for PSG late on via a twice-deflected shot.

Those goals were his 150th and 151st goals in Ligue 1 for Paris Saint-Germain. He became the club's highest score in the league on 15 April 2023, passing club legend Edinson Cavani.

Enrique praises Mbappe

Speaking after the game, Enrique is happy that he can now count on Mbappe on his team.

“All coaches want top players like Kylian and Ousmane. It's thanks to them, but also thanks to (Marco) Asensio, Warren (Zaire-Emery), Marquinhos, Vitinha, (Milan) Skriniar. Of all. We are a team with big goals," via Culture PSG.

Asensio also praised Mbappe and new signing Ousmane Dembele.

“They are very important players for the team. They very often make the difference. We get along very well, and we hope it will continue that way.”

Mbappe is up to 215 goals and 86 assists.

Ancelotti sends subtle Mbappe message

Sports Brief earlier reported Carlo Ancelotti sending a subtle message to Kylian Mbappe after his side’s 1-0 win against Celta Vigo at the Abanca Balaidos.

The Italian manager reiterated his desire not to add any more attacking signing to his current squad, which he has deemed good enough to compete on all fronts.

Ancelotti’s message is a huge blow for Mbappe, who reportedly could fancy a move to the Bernabeu this summer.
