- The Chelsea striker is set to join the club on loan
- Lukaku is expected to replace Tammy Abraham, who is currently out injured
Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku has announced the club he is joining this summer ahead of his Stamford Bridge exit.
The Belgian rejoined the Blues in the summer of 2021 before he was shipped out on loan last summer to Inter Milan after his underwhelming second stint with the west Londoners.
Lukaku returned to Chelsea this summer upon the expiry of his loan deal with Inter but was exiled from the first team as the club sought to finalise his departure.
According to Metro UK, the former Manchester United attacker has been training with Chelsea's U21s and has yet to have a word with new boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Which club is Lukaku joining?
The Belgium attacker was initially expected to seal a permanent transfer with Inter Milan, only for the proposed move to hit a snag.
Juventus were also said to be keen on Lukaku's services, but the move did not take off the ground after the club's fans protested the transfer.
Elsewhere, a switch to Saudi Arabia was mooted for the towering striker, who turned it down as he was keen to continue playing in Europe.
The Sun now reports that the ex-Inter ace is due to join Roma this summer in a move that will see him reunite with Jose Mourinho.
The 30-year-old, who is set to replace the injured Tammy Abraham, has since confirmed the imminent transfer.
“Tomorrow I will fly to Rome to sign," he was quoted telling reporters in Belgium.
